The H.A.V.E. culinary training program offers eight weeks of full time culinary training. The H.A.V.E. curriculum is designed to provide occupational training to the cook level. Under the careful tutelage of Chef Amber and two trainers H.A.V.E.’s students work diligently to prepare the meals served at H.A.V.E. Café. The Kitchen is divided into two sections: a cold prep area, and a hot kitchen. Each day the students rotate between the two sections so that they receive a well rounded education, and to keep things new and exciting.
When a customer order is put to the kitchen food is prepared simultaneously in both kitchen areas. This allows for a speedy turnaround on food orders and ensures that food is hot and delicious when it hits the table. All proceeds from food produced in the kitchen are reinvested in the training program. At H.A.V.E. you can be happy that your lunch is both delicious and helping to serve the community.
Students receive bus tickets to and from the Café, breakfast and lunch, uniforms, tools and a $100 honorarium per student on successful completion of the training.
