The H.A.V.E. Cafe is a culinary training center that provides foodservice job training and work opportunities to individuals in Vancouver who experience barriers to employment. H.A.V.E.‘s students are youth and adults facing mental and physical disabilities, poverty, addiction and homelessness. H.A.V.E.’s Certified Chef de Cuisine Instructor and assistant instructors provide a hands- on, tailored culinary education that is able to meet the needs of H.A.V.E.’s diverse student population. By providing culinary training, Food Safe Certification and supportive work placements, H.A.V.E. operates to increase confidence, self- sufficiency and access to employment for those who have been excluded from meaningful work. Proceeds from the H.A.V.E. Café and H.A.V.E. Catering are reinvested into the program. The rent collected from H.A.V.E. also goes to keep the transition house, located upstairs, operational.
